MSDS實際上是一份全面的技術(shù)性說明書，側(cè)重于危害提示和安全操作指引。一份完整的MSDS報告一般涵蓋如下16項內(nèi)容：

Section 1：Chemical Product and Company Identification——化學(xué)品及企業(yè)標識

Section 2：Information on Hazardous Ingredients——成分信息

Section 3：Hazard identification——危害識別信息

Section 4：First Aid Measures——急救措施

Section 5：Fire Fighting Measures——消防措施

Section 6：Accidental Release Measures——意外泄露處置措施

Section 7：Handling and Storage——操作處置與儲存

Section 8：Exposure Control/Personal Protection——接觸控制與個體防護

Section 9：Physical and Chemical Properties——物理化學(xué)性質(zhì)

Section 10：Stability and Reactivity——穩(wěn)定性與反應(yīng)活性

Section 11：Toxicology Information——毒理學(xué)資料

Section 12：Ecological Information——生態(tài)學(xué)資料

Section 13：Disposal Considerations——廢棄處置信息

Section 14：Transportation Information——運輸資料信息

Section 15：Regulatory Information——法規(guī)資料信息

Section 16：Other Information——其它信息

MSDS似乎在海運當中更常見，為什么呢？也許是因為化工品等產(chǎn)品空運時都需要提供《航空運輸條件鑒別報告書》Identification and Classification Report for Air Transport of Goods，俗稱空運鑒定或鑒定，但是海運沒有類似這樣的鑒定，所以就要通過MSDS來判斷是否適合運輸。而航空運輸貨物因為有《航空運輸條件鑒別報告書》，就沒必要再提供MSDS了。
